“We Knew We Were In Good Hands”
Building or renovating a home can be a very stressful experience. It can be overwhelming to face unknown expenses, complex decisions, and a timeline that seems to stretch on forever. Working with The JAK Group on the renovation of our home in 2013 was quite the opposite. We took a waterfront cottage built circa 1887 and converted the interior into what felt like a brand new home. Jeff and Kirsten Wiwchar are an exceptionally talented pair. Their vision, combined with their ability to address and solve any issues that arose, made the significant undertaking feel like a smooth process. Jeff’s ability to accurately quote costs, meet timelines for completion, and expertly manage the build, coupled with Kirsten’s exceptional design talent took the stress out of the process. Judging by the quality of the final product, they obviously have a great relationship with their selected trades.
In 2019, the high water on the St Lawrence River forced us to move our beautifully renovated home a further 15 feet back from the river, raise it 7 feet, and construct a poured concrete foundation. The JAK Group returned to assist. We knew we were in good hands, and that complicated process was once again completed to our total satisfaction. We highly recommend The JAK Group and have done so since 2005.

“Above and Beyond”
The Brockville Winter Classic was proud to partner with Proctor & Gamble, the City of Brockville, and Jeff Wiwchar of The JAK Group on a lasting legacy project to honour P&G’s time in Brockville. The construction of our multi-use facility at Rotary Park in 2019 with grand opening in early 2020.
As our General Contractor, Jeff expertly coordinated all trades, maintained project timelines, and ensured the build remained on schedule and within budget. Throughout the process, he demonstrated professionalism, strong communication, and a genuine commitment to the success of the project. He also went above and beyond by helping source donated materials, which was especially valuable for a community project.
The completed facility has become a cornerstone of Rotary Park, providing heated change rooms and a welcoming space for families enjoying the free community amenities. Its success has also helped attract new business activity to the park, proving that investment in community infrastructure truly makes a difference.
Following the success of the P&G Building project, we continued to rely on Jeff and The JAK Group for additional park improvements, including accessible concrete viewing areas, updated bleachers, and the installation of a new sound and lighting system. Each project was completed with the same dedication, quality workmanship, and attention to detail.
We are incredibly grateful for Jeff’s time, expertise, and commitment to improving Rotary Park. We would not hesitate to recommend The JAK Group and look forward to working with Jeff again on future projects.

“We Couldn’t Be Happier”
We couldn’t be happier with the work completed on our basement.
We purchased our home new with a completely unfinished basement, and the transformation has been remarkable. What started as a large open concrete space with exposed beams, posts and utilities has now become a beautiful and extremely functional extension of our home.
The team created a large bedroom with two generous seasonal closets, a comfortable main living and entertainment area, a separate workout space and a full bathroom complete with shower, vanity, toilet and beautiful tile work. They also did an excellent job incorporating the existing structural beams and posts into the design, boxing everything in so that it feels like it was always intended to be part of the finished home. The engineered flooring, paint, wide baseboards and trim throughout give the entire space a clean, modern and high-quality finished look.
One of our favourite aspects is how well the space was planned. We now have a full home gym that remains connected to the main living area, plenty of room for comfortable seating and television, excellent storage and a large bedroom that doesn’t feel like an afterthought. The sliding pocket door separating the finished living space from the utility room was another great addition and helps keep the mechanical area and noise separate.
Just as important as the finished product was our experience with the crew. Everyone was professional, friendly, reliable and respectful of our home. Communication throughout the project was excellent. Whenever a decision or question came up, they discussed it with us rather than simply making assumptions, and they were equally responsive whenever we had questions of our own. We always felt comfortable with the team working in our home.
The end result exceeded our expectations. This doesn’t feel like a “finished basement” — it genuinely feels like another complete level of our home, and it has completely changed the way we use the house.
We would have no hesitation recommending this team to anyone considering a basement renovation or home improvement project. The workmanship, attention to detail, communication and overall experience were excellent from beginning to end. We are extremely happy with what they created for us.

Our build was certainly not the norm for anyone. We asked to partner with The JAK Group just months before COVID shut down the world. From the day we got our build permit the progress was nothing short of incredible. With fantastic reliable trades, working with shortages in many building materials Jeff came through every time with a solution that worked perfectly for the situation. We counted only 4 days total from the start of our build, that there was nobody onsite building our home. We received quality, speed and cost containment all during the most challenging times ever seen! To top it all off, The JAK Group was able to be the voice of reason when we were totally stressed out.
